When you are traveling from city to city and town to town like we are, it is often a gamble as to how good or bad the hotel will be, when reserving in advance. Last week we decided to go to Isla Ometepe in Nicaragua. Since we had heard that during the holiday season things get booked up, before we left Granada to come to Ometepe we spent about 15 minutes looking on the internet for a nice and clean hotel to stay at on the Island of Ometepe.
We read good reviews on tripadvisor about The American Cafe & Hotel and decided to give them a call. Debbie spoke with the owner Simone and luckily they had a room available for us. When we arrived at the hotel, Simone greeted us with open arms. We had a fantastic time staying at the hotel. Simone and Robert run all aspects of the hotel and are excellent hosts. While hanging out in the Cafe of the hotel, we had the good fortune of meeting three groups of travelers. We hiked volcano Concepcion with two of the groups and are now traveling with the third group to the next destination. In addition to having a fantastic time on the Island we made lots of new friends.
