Rent an ATV on Isla Ometepe, Nicaragua

Riding an ATV in Nicaragua

The number 2 favorite thing we have done so far on this trip was renting an ATV on the Isla Ometepe, Nicaragua from Robinson. We had a blast driving around the Island and going to the San Ramon waterfall.

On the way back from the waterfall it was raining and all of a sudden the ATV shut off. We pushed the ATV over to the side of the road and sat for a while. We were pretty much in the middle of nowhere and with the sun setting we had to figure out something fast.

I told Debbie to jump off and give me a push so I could try to jump it. We tried a few times, but the road was flat and rocky and we could not get the ATV going fast enough that I could jump it. Luckily a local was passing by and had the strength to get us going and I was able to jump it. Away we went, although before we reached our home base the bike stalled again. Long story short we finally made it back!

can you tell me where the ATV rental exactly is at Isla Ometepe, and how much it costs?

      Hi Chris,

Thanks for contacting me. When were on Ometepe we were staying at the American Cafe and Hotel. Robinson (owner of the rental company) came over to the hotel and we met him there. The American Cafe and Hotel is right up the street from the ferry. Talk with Robert or Simone and they will be able to contact Robinson and arrange for your ATV rental. Robinson’s rental’s is just up and around the corner on the main road that runs to the other side of the island.

The ATV was $70 for the entire day. It was so fun!

    Hi Jason,
Thank you very much for the fast reply =).
I’m a student from Germany and i’m planning a trip to Central America for 1.5 months in march of this year, so im very glad about “insider/local information” like this one.
For how long will you stay in Nicaragua until you continue to an other country?

      Hi Chrs,

No problem, very happy to help!

We are in Costa Rica now. We stayed in Nicaragua for 15 days. We
absolutely loved Nicaragua and would have stayed longer, but are
meeting up with my sister in law in Costa Rica this Sunday.

We started in Granada for a few days, Ometepe for 3 days and then San
Juan Del Sur for 10 days. There is so much to do and see. The
surfing was awesome as well and should be even better in March! I
posted more videos about our time in Granada, hiking Volcano
Concepcion on Ometepe, Isletas tour and surfing. Check my blog for
      those links.

      Have a great trip!

Yo Jay! I finally got a chance to watch all your videos, love that third time lucky on your ATV lesson. Nice one on the kiting lesson, get it all sussed out and you will love my spot in Aus, we live just about 200 meters or so from one of the best spots around for it. Hopefully by the time you make it I will be teaching lessons from the beach hire business. Anyway slim, enjoy your travels, look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Carl
